Karen Spence: reproductive Attorney

KAREN SPENCE, JD founded the firm in 1998 on the principles of sensitivity and compassion in assisting couples through the emotionally challenging aspects of infertility treatments. A graduate of Indiana University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Political Science, Ms. Spence earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1992.

Ms. Spence was inducted as a fellow to the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys in 2011. She is also a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law section, and the American Bar Association's Family Law Assisted Reproductive Technology Committee. kspence@ivflaw.com

 

Nancy Elster: reproductive Attorney

NANETTE ELSTER, JD, MPH earned her law degree from Loyola University of Chicago and a Masters of Public Health degree from Boston University School of Public Health. She was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1989 and has been practicing reproductive law since 1994. As an attorney and bioethicist, Ms. Elster has extensive experience in the legal and ethical issues of women’s and children’s health, genetics, and assisted reproduction. Ms. Elster is an avid writer, speaker and lecturer on reproductive law and genetic issues. She currently serves on the adjunct faculty at several Chicago-based universities, and on the board of the Chicago Center for Jewish Genetic Disorders.

She has appeared on such media staples as CNN, NPR, Good Morning America, the Today Show, and Chicago Tonight, as well being quoted in such newspapers as the Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. Ms. Elster was inducted as a fellow to the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys in 2011.

She serves on the American Bar Association's Special Committee on Bioethics and Law. She is also a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Chicago Bar Association.
