Karen Spence

KAREN SPENCE, JD founded the firm in 1998 on the principles of sensitivity and compassion in assisting couples through the emotionally challenging aspects of infertility treatments. A graduate of Indiana University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Political Science, Ms. Spence earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1992.

Nanette Elster

NANETTE ELSTER, JD, MPH earned her law degree from Loyola University of Chicago and a Masters of Public Health degree from Boston University School of Public Health. She was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1989 and has been practicing reproductive law since 1994. As an attorney and bioethicist, Ms. Elster has extensive experience in the legal and ethical issues of women’s and children’s health, genetics, and assisted reproduction. Ms. Elster is an avid writer, speaker and lecturer on reproductive law and genetic issues. She currently serves on the adjunct faculty at several Chicago-based universities, and on the board of the Chicago Center for Jewish Genetic Disorders. She has appeared on such media staples as CNN, NPR and Good Morning America. Ms. Elster also brings the experience of her own struggle with infertility to the emotional and legal needs of the firm’s clients.

LAURIE A. ROSENOW, JD is an attorney and former senior fellow at the Institute for Science, Law and Technology in Chicago where her work focused on genetic and assisted reproductive law and policy. The author and editor of several speeches, articles, and chapters, she also frequently conducted interviews with the media and briefed members of Congress to assess the practical, social, legal, and economic impacts of new technological breakthroughs. She earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She received a Master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and completed her undergraduate studies at Boston College.

SUSAN LOEB, JD (Of Counsel) is an attorney and founder of Your Benefits Advocate, which helps individuals with problems related to their health, disability and other benefits coverage. An avid lecturer, Ms. Loeb has appeared on NBC Nightly News as part of a series on navigating the world of health insurance and sits on numerous Chicago-based professional and philanthropic boards. She received her law degree in 1981 from Chicago-Kent College of Law. Her experience and insight into employee benefits proves invaluable to the clients of
